Re-Elect Dan Ruimy for Mayor of Maple Ridge

Dan has called Maple Ridge home for nearly twenty years. Before politics, he spent more than 35 years in business, working his way up from the front line of the restaurant industry to senior leadership roles across Canada, the US, and the UK, helping open and support more than 150 locations along the way.

Eventually he brought that experience home, opening a small independent bookstore and café right here in town, a place built less around selling books than around giving people somewhere to gather.

He didn't come into public life with a big agenda. He put his name forward because he believed council could work better together.

Less division. Clear direction. More follow-through.

Dan was elected to Parliament in 2015, where he chaired the Industry, Science and Technology Committee before returning back to Maple Ridge. In 2022, he was elected Mayor. As Mayor, that same approach- listen first, then act- has helped move real work forward:

• Adding new firefighters and RCMP officers to keep pace with a growing city
• Advancing major infrastructure projects, from road improvements to long-term recreation planning
• Shifting City Hall toward planning ahead instead of reacting after the fact

Because when things stall, people feel it.

"Leadership is not about pretending to have all the answers. It's about being willing to step forward anyway, listening carefully, and surrounding yourself with good people."

The work isn't finished.

There are still important decisions ahead: transportation, housing, recreation, jobs. The question is whether they're met with more gridlock, or with the focus to see them through.

"We are no longer planning for the community we were. We are planning for the city we are becoming."

Dan believes local government works best when it listens well, plans ahead, and follows through. That's what he's focused on.
